Drip, Drop!

I started to re-work the idea of the water drop and try and bring it further, so reversed the idea and tried loads of drops. Then just a few drops in different compositions. They're all ok, really don't like the ones with the white drops and all the text in the background, just think it's way to much type.

Then I decided to try different type faces, weights and cases and ended up with the last which I do think is nicer than the rest. I think the lower case works better and I like the use of regular and light type in the drop.

Also decided to try and throw in one of my sketches with the drop, not really too sure about it?

Working with type

I've decided I want to work mainly with type for this poster seen as "Water Is Life" has to be in the poster. So I started off with the first thing that came to mind "Water Is Life" using an image of water, pretty simple and boring! 

So kept going and tried using type to make up the words and then some images, really like the simplicity of the water drop on its own. I think the last one is a nice idea but doesn't really work with the grass at the bottom. I decided to keep going with the water drop and see what else I can get from it.

Research Sketches & Photographs

Here are some preliminary sketches and photographs for the water poster. I used coloured water so it could be photographed better and I could see it clearly. While working with these images I came across campaigns to boycott bottled water because it is a waste of water when we can simple drink from the tap, so I decided to leave the idea of using a bottle in my poster.

More research

Here is a nice poster I found that lets you know how much water is used to produce certain types of products. It's very well done and very informative, I would never have taught it would take 1170 litters if water for one breast fillet of chicken (300g) or 2500 litters for one big piece of cheese (500g). It just shows how much water is needed for everyday life.

Initial Research

Here are some existing poster from around the world promoting "Water is/for life"

The first two aren't bad, the first one is a typical type of poster you'd get from a government agency, but nothing really stands out.

I like the concept behind the second one, using the water drip and putting images of "life" in it.

The last two are quite nice and smart. Using the image of the tap and showing if you save water you can save lives ie the fish.

In researching the water is life campaign I came across this straw. Very innovative and helpful product that can save lives. Not sure if it has any direct relevance with the poster but it's definitely worth a mention.

Final outcome for 24hr egg project.

Here are my storyboards for the 24hr egg project, a short ad for an egg cuber to help your eggs stand out from the crowd! I could definitely see this product on sale in quirky design-y shops like urban outfitters.

NEW EGG CONCEPT

Here are a few of my sketches for my new concept for the egg brief, I'm going to design a guide on "How to do.. Good Eggs", a simple, quirky guide on how to cook different types of eggs. I'm going to make it in the shape of an egg and would like it to have an accordion fold.

So from my sketches I created vectors and made little symbols to use with in the text, above are the symbols and the layouts of each of the pages.

I had a go at trying to manipulate the pages to make it look like an accordion fold but it didn't really work. Below is my final design outcome.
